Fathuhulla Ibrahim

General Manager

Fathuhulla joined in February, 1989.
He graduated with GCE O Level in Baa Atoll Education Center and began his work experience as an Office Trainee; then Gift Shop Assistant; then Assistant Storekeeper; then Receptionist; then Head Cashier; then promoted as Assistant Manager in January, 1994; then promoted to his current position in January, 1996.
Fathuhulla is married, makes his home in Male’ and enjoys playing football, fishing and reading.

Marlene Simon

Sales & Marketing Manager

Marlene joined in November 2012.
As the Sales and Marketing Manager for the Resort, she overlooks tour operator contracting for two of the groups 'romantic Resorts’ Veligandu Island Resort & Spa and Komandoo Island Resort & Spa.
Marlene holds a Master degree in Management from Grenoble Graduate School of Business in France, with an exchange semester abroad in Mexico.
She started her career with various internships in Europe, including one-year training as Assistant of the Director of Communications / Press Relations, French Palace The Majestic,­ Cannes, France; then in 2009, Guest Relations Officer (pre-opening) and then again promoted, Guest Relations Supervisor, Centara Grand Island Resort and Spa Maldives; then in 2012, Guest Services Manager, Meeru Island Resort and Spa, Maldives and then in 2016, joining the Crown & Champa Resorts, Maldives in her current position as Sales & Marketing Manager.
Marlene makes her home in Lyon, France and enjoys reading, traveling and learning new languages. She speaks fluent French, English and Spanish.

Abdul Sattar

Front Office Manager

“Satto” joined in 1993.
As the Front Office Manager, he controls the day-to-day functions of the Front Office. His work includes the efficient management of guests’ arrival and departure, ensuring that his team of Receptionists carry out a professional and friendly service when handling information. Liaising with Guest Services and Guest Transport on special requests brought to the desk by the guest.
He completed Certificate III in Food & Drinks Service at Faculty of Hospitality in December, 2007, completed Professional English Intermediate course in Language Learning Center in Male, Maldives. And graduated BTEC National Diploma in Hospitality, Maldives National University in June 2013.
He began his career as a Room Boy in Veligandu Island Resort & Spa in 1993. Then in 1996, transferred to Food & Beverage as Senior Waiter; then in 2007, promoted as Restaurant Manager; then in 2008, Head Bartender; then in 2010, promoted as Bar Manager in 2010; then in August 2013, Assistant Executive Housekeeper; then in January, 2014 promoted as Assistant Front Office Manager and in 2017 his current role, as Front Office Manager, Veligandu Island Resort & Spa.
Satto is married and he has a son and a daughter. He loves water sports, playing volleyball, music, and entertainment. He speaks fluent English and Dhivehi and basic conversation in German and Italian.

Farish Moosa

Reservations Manager

Farish joined in 2008.

He is responsible for the Reservations Department.
He graduated Cambridge “O” Level in Irushaadhiyya School in Addu City, S. Maradhoo Feydhoo in 2006. Completed Certificate III in Front Office Operations on June 2014, Maldives National University - Male' Republic of Maldives.
He began his career as a Sales Assistant in Meeru Island Resort & Spa in 2008. Then in 2009, Receptionist and then in 2012, promoted to Reservation Supervisor, Reservations; In 2013, promoted to Assistant Reservations Manager, Meeru Island Resort & Spa; then in 2014, transferred as Assistant Reservations Manager, Kuredu Island Resort & Spa and operates along with Komandoo Reservations at the same position; then in 2017 promoted to Reservations Manager, his current role in Veligandu Island Resort & Spa.
Farish is married. He enjoys football and browsing online news. He speaks fluent Dhivehi,­English and Hindi.

Desiree Böttcher

Assistant Guest Services Manager

Desiree Böttcher joined in 2016.
In 2007, she completed her Secondary School, Burgau Gymnasium Düren, Germany. She completed her Final Secondary School Examination (Commercial College) in 2010 in Berufskolleg kaufmännische Schule des Kreises Düren, Germany. In 2013, she went for further training in Bar School Rostock, Germany for Certificate in Professional Barkeeper.
In 2016, she completed the Fast track in Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Arts the International University of Applied Sciences, Bad Honnef, Germany.In 2013, she completed her apprenticeship for Certificate in Hotel Specialist, Hilton Hotel Bonn, Germany Robert-Wetzlar-Berufskolleg, Bonn.
In 2014, she joined the Hilton Hotel Bonn, Germany, as a Commis de Rang, Food & Beverage Bar & Restaurant. Then in 2016 she joined Veligandu Island Resort as assitent Guest Services Manager, her current roal.­
Desiree enjoys travelling, reading and sports. She speaks German, English and Spanish.

Mohamed Naeem

Chief Engineer

Mohamed Naeem “Naeem” joined in June, 1989.
He graduated as a Welder & Sheet Metal Worker, Faculty of Engineering, Male’, in 1978.
After which, he served in various positions in the Maldives including Supervisor, Maldives Transport & Contracting; then as Welder, Kuredu; then as Welder, Male’; then in June, 1989, as Maintenance Supervisor, then in November, 2000, promoted as Maintenance Manager and in 2016, promoted to­ Chief Engineer, Veligandu.
Naeem is the “backbone” of the long serving Maintenance Team.
He is married, makes his home in Male’, and enjoys watching sports, reading, and making things work properly.

John Sebastian

Financial Controller

“John” joined in 2014.
He is in charge of Accounts Department including Accounts, Stores, Purchase and IT.
John graduated with a Master degree in Commerce from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala, India in 1993.
He began his work experience as Assistant Accountant in India; then Accountant, Fototeknik, Maldives; then promoted as Chief Accountant; then Credit Controller, Crown Tours Maldives; then promoted as Chief Accountant; then transferred to Biyadhoo Island Resort as Chief Accountant; then in 2013, Chief Accountant, Meeru Island Resort; then in 2014, transferred to Veligandu Island Resort as Chief Accountant; promoted as Assistant Financial Controller in 2015, and was promoted in 2017 as Financial Controller, his current position. John is married with two kids and makes his home in Alleppey, Kerala, India. He enjoys listening to music, playing Volleyball and Badminton.

Sunil Kumar

IT Manager

Sunil Kumar “Kumar” joined in April, 2014.­
He graduated with a Diploma in Electronics & Telecommunications, IETE, New Delhi, India, in 1999.
Kumar began his work experience as Senior Executive Faculty, Accel PVT Ltd.,­ Chennai, India, in January, 2000; then in September, 2008, as IT Manager, Hilton Maldives Irufushi; then in May 2010, as IT Manager, Kuredu; then in June, 2011, transferred to his current position.
Kumar is married, makes his home in Kerala, India, and enjoys music and reading.

Cyrus Mathiasz

Purchasing Manager

Cyrus joined in 2005.
He graduated with GCE O Level at St. Mary’s College, Dehiwala, Sri Lanka.
Cyrus began his career in 1981 as Receptionist; then in 1987, Bellboy cum Telephone Operator, UAE; then in 1988, Front Office Supervisor, then in 1990, Duty Manager, then Assistant FO Manager in various Five Star Hotels in the Middle East & Sri Lanka before coming to the Maldives; then in 2005 FO Manager, then in 2010 as Purchasing Manager, Vilamendhoo Island Resort; then in 2013, Purchasing Manager Meeru Island Resort; then in 2016 transferred to Veligandu Island Resort as Purchasing Manager.
Cyrus is Married. Enjoys Sports, Swimming, Dancing and Listening to Music.

Siegbert Horn

Executive Chef

Siegbert “Sigi” Horn joined in April, 2014.­
He graduated as Chef Apprentice, Kassel Germany, in 1974; and with a Degree as Master Chef, Industrie and Handelskammer, Frankfurt, Germany, in 1983.
After which, Sigi served in a variety of Executive Chef positions in Germany including Park Hotel Hessenland, Kassel; then Romantic Hotels, Garmisch Partenkirchen and Landshut; then in the USA, Kranzlers, Houston; ARA Services, Convention Centers in Colombia Lakes, Texas and New Orleans; then at various restaurants in Germany; then for 5 years aboard passenger cruise lines; then at the Senegambia Beach Hotel, Gambia; then the Ocean Bay Hotel, Gambia; then back to the cruise lines; and in April, 2014, to Veligandu.
Sigi is married, a grandfather, makes his home in Ahnatal, Germany, and enjoys sailing and tennis.­

Mohamed Nazeer

Food & Beverage Manager

Mohamed Nazeer joined Veligandu in 2016 and is responsible for the Food and Beverage operations of the island.
He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree of International Hospitality & Tourism (Hons) from Taylors University, Malaysia in 2012, did his Elite Bartenders course conducted by International Bartenders Association, Singapore in 2013.
Nazeer joined Crown & Champa Resorts in 2001 as Front Office Supervisor; then in 2001, Reservations Supervisor; then in 2006, F&B Assistant Outlet Manager; then again in 2006, ­F&B Operations Manager and then in 2012 promoted to the position of Assistant F&B Manager at Meeru Island Resort. Then in 2016 he was promoted as F&B Manager of Veligandu Island Resort.
He enjoys all kinds of sports, Swimming and listening to music.

Ahmed Nabeel

Human Resources Manager

Ahmed Nabeel joined the Company in 1996.
As the Human Resources Manager, Nabeel oversees the staff recruitment and selection and plays an integral role in the staff development and training. He looks after the employee housing, welfare and recreation and ensures that the standard disciplinary procedure of the hotel is maintained and enforced.
Nabeel received his BTEC National Diploma in Hotel Catering and Institutional Operations at Maldives College of Higher Education in 1998.
He has a vast experience in the industry, rising through the levels from being a trainee in 1995 to Restaurant Waiter then as General Cashier in 1996 at Veligandu Island Resort. Then in 2002, he was transferred to Hilton Maldives as Human Resources Coordinator; then in 2003, Warehousing and Staff Accommodation Manager, Mandhoo Island under Hilton Management; then in 2007, Assistant Sales and Marketing Manager, then in 2008, promoted as Sales & Marketing Manager, Meeru Island Resort & Spa; thereafter, he became the Human Resources Manager at Veligandu Island Resort; then in 2013, transferred to Vilamendhoo Island Resort & Spa as HR Manager and rejoined Veligandu Island Resort in 2017 to his current position.
Nabeel is married and his home is in Addu City, Hithadhoo, Maldives. His hobbies include playing football, sports fishing, reading newspapers and watching TV.
He is fluent in English and Dhivehi, his mother tongue.­

Chrizanne Malherbe

Executive Housekeeper

Chriz joined in 2016.
As Executive Housekeeper of Veligandu Island Resort & Spa she ensures the Resort’s guest and staff accommodation, facilities and public areas are clean, comfortable and the highest standard.
In 1998, she completed her National Senior Certificate in South Africa. In 2002, she completed her 3 Year Diploma in North Link College, Bellville, South Africa. From 2002 to 2003, she worked in Housekeeping / Reception at Big Meadows Lodge, Virginia U.S.A and then in 2004, Housekeeping Inspector at Daufuskie Resort and Breathe Spa, South Carolina, USA. Then in 2007, Guest Service Assistant, Diaz Strand Hotel and Resort, South Africa; Then in 2008, Stateroom Stewardess, Crystal Cruises / Seabourn Cruise and then in 2012, Assistant Executive Housekeeper, Seabourn Odyssey, 6 Star Cruise Liner. Then in 2016, Relief Manager,­ Jakkalsvlei Private Wine Cellar, South Africa; then again in 2016 Accommodation Reservations Manager, Santos Express, South Africa until she joined Veligandu in 2017 as Executive Housekeeper.
Chrizanne enjoys diving (PADI qualified), swimming and reading. She speaks English & Afrikaans.­

Dr. Zeeshan Asif

Medical Doctor

Dr. Asif joined in May, 2014, as Resident Doctor.­
He graduated with an M.B.B.S., in 2008, from Xinjiang Medical University, Urumqi, China, PMDC No. 54778-P.
After which, he served various posts in Lahore, India including Resident House Officer, Lahore General Hospital; and Resident House Officer, Jinnah Hospital; ­then in Gujrat as General Duty Medical Officer, Butt Hospital & Neurosurgical Complex; and Senior Casualty Medical Officer, Ghatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital.
In 2012, Dr. Asif joined as Resort Doctor, Kurumba Resort & Spa, Maldives. He is registered with the Maldives Medical Council No. MR 0244-B, Provisional.
Dr. Asif’s has special training in Accident & Emergency, Surgery and Cardiac Care. ­He is responsible for the care of our guests and staff, serves on the Resort Health & Safety Committee and oversees the periodic medical examination of our staff for Public Health matters.
Dr. Asif is married, makes his home in Pakistan, and enjoys cricket, football, golf,­ reading history books and watching movies.
